WACO, Texas – After a 59-14 victory at Kansas on Saturday, Baylor football is ranked No. 5 in both the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches polls released on Sunday.

The No. 5 ranking in the AP poll is Baylor's highest in that poll since being ranked No. 3 in 1953.

The Bears are 7-0 for the first time since 1980 and 4-0 in conference play for the first time since 1985.

BU earned 1,223 points from voters in the AP poll, after ranking at No. 6 last week with 1,189 points.

Although the Bears did not move up in the coaches poll, they did gain 38 points to total 1,293, up from 1,255 last week.

Baylor continues to be the highest ranked Big 12 Conference team in both polls, after achieving the feat for the first time in league history two weeks ago.

The official BCS standings will be released later Sunday evening.

Baylor will now have its final off-week of the regular season, before hosting No. 13/9 Oklahoma on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 6:30 p.m. That game will be nationally televised by FS1.
