Female Found Murdered Shortly After Participation in Home Invasion Robbery

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- A woman was found murdered shortly after participation in a home invasion robbery Tuesday morning in Waco.

At 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday,  Waco Police received a call about a home invasion in the 2700 block of Madison Drive. Upon arrival, they said that a 19-year-old male had been the victim of a robbery.

The 19-year-old told police that a female and three males forced themselves into the apartment.

The three men then assaulted the victim by hitting him with their fists and a handgun. They then taped the 19-year-old up and continued assaulting him.

The four individuals then took property from the apartment, stole the man's truck, and then fled the scene.

The victim was able to free himself and ran to a neighbor for help. He was then transported to Hillcrest Hospital for injuries sustained in the attack. He was later treated and released.

Police later received a call around 3:30 a.m. gunshots heard in the 500 block of Sedwick. The caller said gunshots were heard several hours earlier but did not call police immediately.

Upon arrival, officers discovered 28-year-old Tarrie Lynn Byrom lying in the middle of the road along with the previous victim's stolen truck.

Officers continued searching in the 2000 block of North 5th Street where her body was found.

Officials concluded that Byrom had been shot and stabbed several times in the upper torso.

Her body has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy.

No arrests have been made. If you have any information, you are urged to contact police.
