Fort Hood Victim Honored

(KCEN) --- Just past the four year anniversary of the 2009 Fort Hood massacre, one of the twelve service members killed is being honored for his actions.

The army says Specialist Fred Greene charged the convicted shooter, Major Nidal Hasan, with nothing more than an ink pen.

On Friday, an unveiling ceremony was held at a Memorial bridge named after Specialist Greene in his hometown of Mountain City, Tennessee.

Karen Nourse, Greene's mother, says "This is a great honor. It's awesome that they are doing this. Fred was definitely deserving. He was an honorable person. And he died saving lives."

Everyone who drives over Goose Greek on State Route 67 in Mountain City will now see Greene's name.
