(KXAS) --- Three people are dead after a fight broke out in Ellis County late Saturday night.

According to police, the fight broke out at a party at a home on the 400 block of Commerce Street in Bardwell.

When officers arrived, they found the bodies of a man and a woman in the kitchen.  They found a third victim, a man, in the hallway with life-threatening injuries.  The man was transported to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas where he was later pronounced dead.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.

A witness provided Ellis County Communications with a description of the suspected attacker.  A short time later, troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety spotted the person and, after a brief pursuit, took the man into custody in Italy with the assistance of the Ellis County Sheriff's Department.

The man arrested, identified by police only as a 27-year-old man from Ennis, is in custody at the Wayne McCollum Detention Center.

The investigation into the deaths is ongoing and police have revealed no further information.
