One Woman Dead After Being Held Hostage in Killeen

 (KCEN)  One woman is dead and another injured after a hostage situation in Killeen early Monday morning. After a stand-off that lasted hours, the suspect finally surrendered to police around7:30 a.m.

The suspect's name has not yet been released.

Investigators are obtaining search warrants to start the homicide investigation.

Around 5:30 a.m. police were to the 900 block of Mimosa Street.

KPD spokesperson Carroll Smith confirmed one woman had been killed and another was able to escape the gunman.

 The women who escaped informed police she had been held hostage by the suspect over night.

 During the incident the 41-year-old man shot and killed the other woman.

SWAT team members and a negotiator finally were able to get the suspect to surrender after about two hours of negotiation.
