The McLennan Highlanders kept their perfect record alive with a 94-81 win over the Eastfield Harvesters tonight at The Highlands.
Eastfield scored the first four points of the game from the free throw line, including two points following a technical foul on McLennan for dunking in the warm up. McLennan's Jalen Jones scored the next eight points to give the Highlanders the 8-4 lead with 17:19 to play in the first half. The Harvesters responded with an 8-0 run of their own, taking the 12-8 lead. McLennan built the first double-digit lead of the game at 39-28 with just over five minutes remaining in the half and held the 45-37 advantage at the break.
The Highlanders extended the lead to 13 less than three minutes into the second half, 54-41. Eastfield fought back, using a 10-0 run to cut the lead to three, 54-51. McLennan extended the lead back to 10 with 12:45 to play. The Harvesters rallied again, cutting the lead to two, 62-60 midway through the half. The Highlanders began to pull away from that point, leading by as many as 15 down the stretch.
Sophomore Shawn Prudhomme led McLennan with 18 points. Freshman Jalen Jones and sophomore Wayne Langston added 17 and 15, respectively.
The Highlanders return to action on Jan. 3, traveling to Dallas to face North Lake at 7 p.m.
