Pineville, LA – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team saw a double-digit lead disappear in a flurry of Louisiana College three-pointers as the Cru fell to the Wildcats 90-84 in overtime Thursday night in Pineville, Louisiana. The loss drops the UMHB women to 2-5 overall and 2-2 in American Southwest Conference play on the year. The Wildcats improve to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the ASC with the victory.

The Cru women took control of the first half in the early going and built an 18-point lead at 37-19 on a Jovana Miles put-back. UMHB pushed it back to 18 points on two more occasions and took a 44-28 lead into halftime. The Wildcats heated up in the early part of the second half and used a 19-3 run to tie the game at 47. The run would stretch to 34-5 as LC opened up a double-digit lead of its own at 62-49. The Cru clawed its way back to tie the game at 67 and took a 68-67 lead on the second of two Kortney Bevers free-throws. The two teams traded the lead before Skyler Chenevert buried a three-pointer with 2:26 left in regulation to tie the game at 75-75. Neither team could score in the final two minutes to send the game to the extra session. Destini Oakman opened the overtime scoring for UMHB, but the Wildcats scored the next nine points to take an 84-77 lead. Bevers would hit a three to get the Cru to within 88-84 with 54 seconds remaining, but that's as close as it would get.

Taylor Tucker led UMHB with 21 points and 13 rebounds on 8-16 shooting. Bevers added 14 points, Macy Moore scored 13 and Alyssa Dean chipped in 12 more off the bench. The Cru shot 54 per cent from the field and did not attempt a three-pointer in regulation. UMHB won the rebounding battle 49-46 but turned the ball over 34 times in the loss.

Neka Jones scored a game-high 33 points for the Wildcats and she hit 9-15 from beyond the arc. Karolyn Thornton added 12 points and Natosha Morvant posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards. LC shot 35 per cent from the field and went 18-62 from three-point range in the game, hitting 11 treys in the second half.

UMHB will return to action with a 1:00 PM tip-off at Mississippi College on Saturday in Clinton, Mississippi. The Cru women will then be off until January 2nd for the Christmas break.
