Gov. Perry Appeals FEMA Decision For Central Texas Flood Victims

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) --- In a letter to President Obama Saturday, Governor Rick Perry appealed the Federal Emergency Management Administration denial of individual assistance aid for Central Texas counties impacted by the Halloween flooding.

"The communities affected by the Halloween floods have been left with devastating financial burdens," Gov. Perry said. "Texas is utilizing all available resources to meet the needs of these families and businesses in Central Texas, but the damage is of such magnitude that federal individual assistance is necessary. I urge President Barack Obama to immediately grant the assistance that these Texans need to recover and rebuild their lives."

Perry requested that FEMA grant all eligible Individual and Household Programs, including:

  • Transitional Sheltering Assistance
  • Other Needs Assistance
  • Disaster Legal Services
  • Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
  • Disaster Unemployment Assistance
  • Crisis Counseling

The flooding between October 30 and November 1 left many Central Texans still trying to recover.
