Houston preps for winter weather

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Schools and businesses have already shut down in the Houston area, ahead of tomorrow's cold blast.

TX-Dot is encouraging drivers there to stay off roadways.

Freezing rain, sleet and snow are expected.

The Texas Department of Transportation is sending workers right now throughout the six-county region to spread de-icing materials on roads.

Last week a similar arctic blast left dangerous icy roadways in its wake all over the state, including here in central Texas.
