Pizza 4 Patriots deliver Superbowl treat to troops

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- US Military personnel deployed overseas are getting Chicago-style deep dish pizzas just in time for the Superbowl.

About 10,000 boxes have been sent out for the troops stationed in Afghanistan, Kuwait and Oman.

The nonprofit organization "Pizza 4 Patriots" -- with the help of DHL Express -- has been shipping pizzas to American service members abroad for the past six years.

The idea is to serve up "a slice of home" to soldiers deployed far away from their loved ones.
