SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Red Intelligence, Inc., the technology arm of Red Touch Media, a leading global provider of cloud media content services, announced today that it has become a Certified Widevine Implementation Partner. The certification enhances the security of Red Touch Media's cloud video platform and offers its customers the ability to package, securely distribute, and protect playback of video content on more than 440 million consumer electronics devices through Google's Widevine multi-platform digital rights management (DRM).
The combination of Red Touch Media's Express platform, which allows for purchase and distribution of HD and SD video content, with Widevine DRM will create a secure foundation for digital media publishers to roll out revenue-generating pay media services across smartphones, tablets, PCs, Set Top Boxes and Smart TVs. Red Touch Media supports video distribution to the widest range of devices in the industry and was the first company to ever deliver a movie to a digital device.

The announcement comes as online video consumption rates continue to grow, allowing media publishers to capitalize on the growing popularity of long-form, premium TV content on the Web.
Red Touch Media incorporates cloud-based Widevine DRM packaging into the digital media ingestion process, allowing content owners and licensees to securely upload premium content and have it automatically encrypted and packaged with Widevine DRM. Once packaged, these assets can then be distributed via the cloud directly to consumer devices.
