TheStreet and RateWatch Report Top National & Regional CD Rate Issuers

NEW YORK, Feb. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- RateWatch, a premier banking data and analytics service owned by TheStreet, Inc. (NASDAQ: TST) reported today that national averages for CD rates of all durations remained unchanged this week as the Federal Reserve has continued to keep the short-term federal funds rate at a range of zero to 0.25% since late 2008.

"CD rates held firm after Fed Chairwoman Janet Yellen testified to Congress in a speech that confirmed she would continue a pullback in the central bank's economic stimulus program. Yellen, though, reiterated that the recent drop in the unemployment rate near 6.5% and the taper would not necessarily trigger a raise in the federal funds rate," reported Joe Deaux, TheStreet's Economics Analyst. "For the immediate term, this suggests savers won't witness a sharp bump in CD rates, but momentum long term sides with a steady rise in rates."
