Woman Murdered Outside Local Restaurant

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE (Feb. 23, 5 p.m.):

A woman is stabbed to death outside a Killeen restaurant, and now the man police believe did it is behind bars.

"She was a happy person, a joyful person," said Ezequiel Luna. That's how he remembers the young woman he worked with.

"You wouldn't think it was her," he said.

Luna manages a local club. He went to the IHOP off the Central Texas Expressway in Killeen early Sunday morning to have a meal with coworkers.

"She was good people, she was real good people," Luna said. "She was always happy, smiling, good mood and spirit."

Kirsten Nicole Farr, 21, who friends call Nikki, was stabbed several times sitting in a car in the parking lot.

Police say it started with an argument between her and her 31-year-old ex-boyfriend, who walked up to the car.

It "turned physical. He apparently stabbed her and then fled," Carroll Smith, with the Killeen PD, said.

Farr was taken to Darnall Army Medical Center, and died shortly before 4 a.m., less than 45 minutes after police got the call.

By mid-morning Sunday, flowers had been placed next to the parking spot where it happened.

Friends took to twitter to remember the woman; some with a simple "RIP Nikki Farr," some with memories, and some with prayers for the young son she leaves behind.

Obok, the restaurant and club where she worked, posted to Facebook they were closed Sunday, with a comment that says rest in peace.

Less than nine hours after the stabbing, a tip led police to the man they believe is responsible.

Shortly before noon, they arrested Thomas Jeremy Jones in the 200 block of West Avenue K in Nolanville.

They say there's "no doubt" he's the man they're looking for.

"We will come together and take care of this as a company, family, friends, she has a lot of friends," Luna said.

IHOP management said they couldn't comment on what happened.

Farr's body will be sent to Dallas for an autopsy.

Jones is being held in the Killeen City Jail awaiting arraignment on a murder charge Monday.
