Blind man runs half marathon

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- A blind Dallas man didn't let his disability keep him from doing what other people can do.

Dennis Lynch wanted to run a half-marathon.

Sunday, he did just that -- with the help of a guide.

Lynch says despite being blind he wanted to prove the old saying "when there is a will there is always a way."

"The main thing, the main focus I'm doing this is to represent all the blind community here in Texas. That we all blind folks can do sports like sighted folks do. We just need a little bit of assistance," Lynch said.

The two were among the tens of thousands running the Cowtown Marathon.

They say they used a guide rope attached to both of them to get through the course.

Myers led the way and Lynch was just a short tug behind him.

They ran 13.1 miles and crossed the finish line in just over two and a half hours.
