Baylor Equestrian’s Schaefer Named Big 12 Rider of the Month for Fences

WACO, Texas – Baylor's Samantha Schaefer was named one of four Big 12 Riders of the Month Wednesday for equitation over fences during the month of February. 

Schaefer, a junior from Westminster, Md., went 5-1 in fences during the month of February. She picked up MOP honors against Delaware State, scoring an 85. Schaefer followed up her performance against DSU with an 87 against TCU, while also picking up two more MOP honors against SMU and K-State. Her average winning score was 87.4. 

The other riders honored were Samantha Harrison (Oklahoma State) who was honored in the equitation on the flat discipline, Rylee Morgan (TCU) was named horsemanship Rider of the Month and Savannah Smith (K-State) claimed the Reining honor.

This is Schaefer's third Big 12 Rider of the Month award this season.  She was recognized in October for equitation on the flat and again in November in Equitation over Fences.
