UMHB Football Releases 2014 Schedule

Posted: Updated:

Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will welcome a couple of familiar faces back to the schedule, along with one first-time opponent during the 2014 season. The Cru released the 2014 schedule on Friday, March 7th.

UMHB will kick off the 2014 season in Jackson, Mississippi with a 6:00 PM kickoff against new opponent Millsaps College on September 6th. Following that game, UMHB returns home to host University of Redlands on September 13th. That contest will also kickoff at 6:00 PM as the Cru opens the year with four straight night games. The Cru will then travel to Wisconsin-La Crosse on September 20th before hosting Kean University on September 27th. An open week on October 4th will precede the start of American Southwest Conference play at Sul Ross State on October 11th. The Cru will wrap home conference games against Louisiana College (October 18th) and Hardin-Simmons University (November 1st) around a non-conference game at former conference rival Texas Lutheran University on October 25th in Seguin. UMHB will then close out the regular season with road conference games at Howard Payne University and East Texas Baptist University on November 8th and 15th respectively. This will mark the second time in the last three seasons for the Cru to only have four home games on the schedule and UMHB will only get two conference foes in Belton.

The 2014 season will be the Cru's second in the new, on-campus Crusader Stadium. UMHB played ten home games in the new facility last season, including four postseason contests. The Cru went 9-1 on its new home surface in its inaugural year.

The Cru finished the 2013 season with a 13-1 overall record and went 6-0 in ASC play to win another conference championship. The Cru posted just its fourth consecutive undefeated regular season and advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III National Championships before falling to eventual National Champion Wisconsin-Whitewater 16-15.
