Highlassies sweep North Central

The McLennan Highlassies swept the North Central Lady Lions this afternoon in Gainesville.

The Highlassies took game one 5-4 with Stacey Underwood getting the win in the circle.

McLennan began the scoring with one run in the top of the second as Courtney Mica singled, stole second and scored on a double by Summer Dolezel. 

North Central scored all four runs in the bottom of the second inning. Vanessa Tankesly and Kacie Brann both singled. Jacobi Clark walked to load the bases. Shannon Green followed with a fielder's choice, putting Tankesly out at home plate. Kenedi Jackson followed with a single to score Brann. Molly Davison and Celina Ortiz both reached safely on Highlassie errors, allowing Clark and Green to score.

The Highlassies added two runs in the third. Natali Duron and Taylor Davis both singled. A Lady Lion error brought Duron in to score and advanced Davis around to third. Davis then scored on a passed ball.

McLennan sealed the win with two runs in the top of the seventh inning as Duron led off with a double and scored on Davis' home run.

The Highlassies defeated the Lady Lions 5-1 in the night cap with Ashley Mills picking up the win.

McLennan scored one run in the first as Davis walked and scored on a double by Danielle Gregory.

The Highlassies added two runs in the second as Sevanah Campos was safe at first on an error and scored on a home run by Mica.

North Central's only run came in the bottom of the second as Taylor Alexander singled, advanced around to third on a single by Cassidy Hall and scored on a ground out by Rachel Hitt.

McLennan added another run in the fifth as Duron tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Davis.

The Highlassies rounded out the scoring with one run in the top of the sixth. Pinch hitter Kaymee Gooden was safe at first and advanced all the way around to third on a pair of North Central errors. Gooden then scored on a sacrifice fly by Campos.

McLennan returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Temple for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
