Conway, AR – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team dominated Ozarks University 12-0 Friday
afternoon in Conway. The win improved the Cru to 17-12 on the season
and 12-10 in American Southwest Conference action while Ozarks fell to
3-26 overall and 2-20 in conference play. The win also marked Head Coach
Larry Hennig's 100th win at UMHB.
Bevers hit a two-RBI single in the top of the second to give UMHB its
first runs of the day, scoring Dayton Kunz and Victoria Gomez. Jordan
Banta and Janie Neyland
each punched in a run with RBI singles while Leah Brown hit a two-RBI
single for a 6-0 Cru lead. Dayton Kunz then drove in two runners with a
triple to give UMHB an 8-0 lead after two. Bevers opened the top of the
third inning with a home run, followed by
an RBI fielder's choice from Brown and an RBI single from Gomez for an
11-0 lead at the end of the third. Bevers tacked on one more run in the
bottom of the fourth, stealing home plate for a 12-0 lead.
Neyland led the Cru with three hits while three other Crusaders
recorded two. Brown and Bevers led the team with three RBI each as six
Crusaders drove in runs for UMHB.
Bevers also led the team with three runs while Chandler Henson and
Gomez each added two. Rebekah Ragsdale earned the shutout win in the
circle for the Cru, allowing one hit. UMHB totaled 12 runs on 13 hits
with no errors while the Eagles had one hit and two
The Cru returns to action tomorrow in a 12 p.m. doubleheader against the Eagles in Conway. UMHB returns to home action Friday, April 11th in a 4 p.m. doubleheader
with Louisiana College.
