“MantaroBot Classic 2 — the ultimate in telepresence robot technology.”
MantaroBot Classic 2 features a Dell 18” touchscreen computer, and Windows 8.x technology. API available to facilitate robotic experimentation.

MantaroBot announces the new MantaroBot Classic 2 that features a Dell XPS18 Touch computer with full 18 touchscreen display as the head of the robot to its lineup of telepresence robots. The combination of touchscreen and Windows 8.x make the new MantaroBot very easy to configure and use. The 18 display provides a very lifelike telepresence experience for the local users. The remote user can also share video, media and documents on the large screen allowing interactive displays during meetings in any location.

The Classic 2 provides cost effective telepresence for use in telemedicine, security, education, business and manufacturing applications. The Windows 8.x operating system allows easy integration with corporate IT infrastructure.

The MantaroBot Classic 2 features a 720P HD camera mounted on a pan – tilt system allowing the user to view around the robot from many angles. The optional motorized mast allows the camera and display to be positioned to the optimal viewing height. The motorized base allows the remote user to drive the MantaroBot around the remote location such as an office, factory floor or laboratory.

The full Windows 8.x computer allows the MantaroBot Classic 2 to be customized by the user for their application with software applications of their choice. An API is also available to allow direct control of the robots movements programmatically for robotic experimentation.

“This is the most powerful PC that we have installed in a MantaroBot,” said Jeremy Parsons, CEO of MantaroBot. “In addition to providing a great telepresence experience, the Windows 8.x operating system provides a good platform for customization to fit specific applications such as healthcare, education or retail.”

The Classic 2 can use Skype, Lync, Polycom or any other audio/video teleconferencing software available for the Windows 8.x operating system. This allows the Classic 2 to be integrated into the IT infrastructure of corporate video teleconferencing networks and does not require a new software infrastructure to be deployed.

“The Classic 2 can alternatively be equipped with a lower cost HP Omni 10 Tablet with 10.1 inch display for applications that do not require a large screen,” added MantaroBots Business Development Manager, Kamal Kapadia. “The Classic 2 has a flexible architecture that will allow a variety of Windows 8.x touchscreen tablets or computers to be used for applications that require different screen size or compute capability. Holders for other Windows 8.x devices can be made available upon request.”

The MantaroBot Classic 2 can be equipped with options that include a motorized mast, docking station, extended life battery and an aimable laser pointer. The Classic 2 can be controlled by the remote user using the new web based TeleGo Controller or via a Controller Application that can be installed on a Mac and PC.
