UPDATE: Fire on Fort Hood Reported to Have Burned 1,500 to 2,000 Acres

(KCEN) -- Fort Hood officials are monitoring a fire on post that has burned 1,500 to 2,000 acres since it began a little after 8 a.m. Sunday morning.

The fire began in the middle of a firing range after training exercises were conducted.

High winds are currently preventing air crews from going up to fight the flames.

No structures are threatened at this time.

We'll be closely monitoring the situation and keep you updated as we get more information.

(KCEN) -- Officials from Fort Hood are reporting a 400 acre fire on post. The fire is burning at Browns Creek off of West Range Rd.

Fire officials are currently responding to the fire which started on Sunday.
