Four People Displaced After Overnight Fire

(KCEN) -- Four people are displaced after a Waco home went up in flames on Monday night. 

Waco Fire Department crews arrived at at 2017 N. 6th Street at 11:30 PM. The first unit on scene reported a fire on the second story of the home.

Waco FD Assistant Chief Patrick Kerwin says four residents were inside at the time of the fire, while another was down the street.

A neighbor saw smoke and flames and went into the home to help a 60-year-old woman in a wheelchair. 

The roof of the house collapsed, destroying the second floor. The first floor suffered heavy water damage and minor smoke damage.

Red Cross is providing assistance to the residents of the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
