Renowned Neurosurgeon and Author will be featured speaker at Solutions for Change Annual Gala

SAN DIEGO, May 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors for the local nonprofit, Solutions for Change, have announced September 27, 2014 as the date for An Evening to Remember…with Dr. Ben Carson.

Dr. Ben Carson will deliver the keynote address at Solutions For Change's Annual Gala. Solutions For Change, a non-profit organization based in San Diego, California, has worked to pioneer a solution to family homelessness in San Diego since 1999-an effort that has led more than 700 families and 1,400 children to more successful, productive lives.

The annual fundraiser will be held at the OMNI La Costa Resort and Spa and is deemed one of the premier charity events in the region.

"We welcome the entire community to join us for this experience," said Solutions for Change President and CEO, Chris Megison. "Dr. Carson's own challenging upbringing deeply resonates with many of our families here at Solutions.  His perseverance in escaping dire poverty is an inspiration to us all and shows just what can be achieved with the right mix of hope, opportunity and hard work.  We are profoundly honored to have him as our guest speaker and look forward to hearing his inspiring story."

An Evening to Remember…with Dr. Ben Carson is set to excite attendees with world-class entertainment, a culinary feast, silent and live auctions and an inspiring keynote by Dr. Carson.

Mark King, President of the adidas Group North America and Chairman of the Community Leadership Team for Solutions for Change remarked, "There are so few organizations like Solutions for Change out there - working on the ground, daily, to rebuild the lives of so many of our homeless families in North County.  The annual gala and its attendees make these meaningful programs possible, driving big change in our communities and continuing to push the success of Solutions for Change."

Previous guest speakers for An Evening to Remember have included former First Lady, Laura Bush, former Secretary of State, Condoleeza Rice and former New York Mayor, Rudy Giuliani. This year's gala is expected to exceed fundraising goals with proceeds supporting critical programs and initiatives to solve family homelessness.
