UPDATE: Infant Dies After Early Morning Crash, Baby Identified

UPDATE: May 14, 2014, 11:30 a.m. -- The baby in the crash has been identified as one-month-old Jose Perez III of Waco.

Doctors at Hillcrest Hospital pronounced the baby dead on Wednesday morning.

Justice of the Peace DeCluitt has ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.



(KCEN) Waco:   Waco Police were investigating  the death of a baby after a crash on Wednesday morning. 

 Police responded to a call of an accident just before 6 a.m. at the intersection of North 11th St and Washington. 

 The parents were  initially on the way to the hospital because the baby was suffering from breathing issues. Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton from the Waco Police Department said the family was driving at a high rate of speed down 11th when they crashed into a Penske truck that was traveling on Washington.

Waco police accident  reconstruction team was called to the crash.

Police are still investigating if the baby died from the crash or because of the breathing problems.
