Reliant Stadium Becomes NRG Stadium

Posted: Updated:

(CNN) -- The name of former super bowl host "Reliant Stadium" is now in the history books.

The next Houston Texans game will take place at NRG Stadium.

Back in March, the Harris County Sports and Convention Center voted unanimously to change the name after Reliant's parent company, NRG, requested the change.

Action outside the stadium began Wednesday, with the Reliant Stadium lettering coming down.

Officials wanted all signage changed by the start of the Texans football season.

The whole project is more than just a change to the stadium.

NRG park includes NRG Arena and NRG Center.

The electric utility company is picking up the tab for all the work.
