2 Subcontracting Companies Fined for Kyle Field Worker Death

Posted: Updated:
(KAGS) -- Two subcontractors for the Kyle Field renovation project have been fined following the death of a worker who fell four stories this past December. Lindamood Demolition and Texas Cutting and Coring have been cited by OSHA after 25-year-old Angel Garcia fell while he was operating a skid-steer.

OSHA's report says the skid-steer was overloaded with concrete and tipped over, falling more than 70 feet. The machine hit a beam during the fall, which ejected Garcia from it.

Garcia worked for Lindamood Demolition, which, according to the report, "failed to provide employees with safe demolition procedures despite concerns from workers."

The citations and violations include inadequate fall prevention measures and exposing workers to struck-by hazards, knowing workers were in danger.

The five violations among both companies come with a total fine of more than $130,000.
