Texas A&M and Duke have agreed to a two-game women’s basketball series that starts on November 30, 2014 at Reed Arena in College Station. Both Duke and Texas A&M are ranked in the Pre-Preseason Top 10 for 2014-15 by ESPN.com’s Charlie Crème and SI.com’s Richard Deitsch, with A&M fourth in both rankings while the Blue Devils are seventh in both lists.
The Aggies will play at Duke’s Cameron Indoor Stadium in the 2015-16 season to complete the series. A date for that game has not been set yet.
“Duke is considered one of the top programs in the country,” said Texas A&M Head Coach Gary Blair. “To be the best, you have to play the best, and that’s what we’ve done over the years. A home-and-home series is good for both schools, and I’m looking forward to playing them.”
Texas A&M leads the all-time series between the two schools 3-1, with wins in 1995-96, 2007-08 and 2009-10. A&M’s win during the 2007-08 season came in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, a 77-63 decision in Oklahoma City that advanced the Aggies to the program’s first Elite Eight. Duke won the most recent matchup, during the 2010-11 season, in Durham, N.C.
The Aggies went 27-9 in 2013-14, and made the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for the third time in school history. Duke had a 28-7 season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s Second Round.
