18-Wheeler Crashes into Active Power Lines

Posted: Updated:
(KCEN) -- The driver of an 18-wheeler stayed inside his vehicle for safety after crashing into a power line in Belton off of FM 439.

According to Sparta Fire Dept. officials, the crash happened after the truck was trying to maneuver in a parking lot. While trying to back out, the driver clipped an electric wire without realizing it.

As he started driving away he pulled the wire out, bringing the entire power line down on top of the truck.

The driver stayed inside of the vehicle for about 30 minutes until emergency crews were able to respond.
