Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor has named Nate Shipp as the school’s new full-time assistant baseball coach, Cru head coach Ben Shipp announced on Monday, June 9th. Nate Shipp moves to full-time assistant after spending the previous two years as a graduate assistant coach for the Cru.

Nate Shipp graduated from Southwestern University with a degree in kinesiology in May of 2012 and was a four-year letterman for the Pirates baseball team. Nate was a two-time All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference selection at Southwestern University and also earned a spot on the SCAC Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll. He spent one year at Tarleton State University before transferring to Southwestern. In his two years on the Cru coaching staff, Nate Shipp has helped his father lead UMHB to a 47-38 overall record and back-to-back appearances in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. The Cru finished 26-17 overall and went 19-14 in ASC play during the 2014 season. UMHB also led the ASC with a .294 team batting average in conference play last year.

“I am thrilled to have Nate working in this new capacity as our full-time assistant coach,” Cru Head Coach Ben Shipp said. “He has done a great job of working with our infielders and hitters in each of the past two seasons.”

Nate Shipp will replace his older brother, Kyle, as full-time assistant coach. Kyle Shipp resigned last month to pursue a career in the ministry after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater.
