Waco Father Charged With Capital Murder of Two-Month-Old Son

Posted: Updated:
(KCEN) -- A two-month-old is dead, and his father is in jail for his murder. It all happened over the weekend, and the 27-year-old was arrested Tuesday.

The infant was originally taken to Hillcrest in Waco Saturday. He had multiple skull and rib fractures, as well as brain hemorrhaging. He was then care-flighted to McLane Children's Hospital in Temple, where he died the next day.

Now a family is torn apart, and neighbors are stunned.

"They seemed like a pretty happy couple," Le'star Stoglin said. "I couldn't even imagine going through something like that."

Stoglin lives in the building next to building 4 at the Landing Apartments, where it all happened. She also went to Waco High School with the baby's mother.

"I just saw the paramedic run in the apartment and come out with the baby," she said. "And the dad came out also."

Police say that dad is 27-year-old Anton Henry. The baby, his two-month-old son, Jaden.

Henry was apparently alone with him and Jaden's twin sister, and the infant's mom came home minutes later.

"She went over and saw the baby in the back of the ambulance and she just broke down," said Stoglin.

Jaden died early Sunday afternoon in Temple. Tuesday, Henry was put in cuffs, and charged with his infant son's murder.

The arrest affidavit notes he told investigators "he was frustrated and overwhelmed by Jaden's constant crying and scratching his face."

He told the cops he "grabbed Jaden by his torso and squeezed him really hard."

He then swaddled the baby, and forced his arms into the blanket, before he "'forcibly placed' Jaden on the bed at least one time."

The affidavit notes Henry called police after finding Jaden unresponsive and not breathing. A preliminary autopsy finds the two-month-old died of blunt force to his skull.

Police say Henry could not explain the fractures to Jaden's skull. He also had injuries to his arms and broken ribs, not consistent with CPR.

"I hope everything gets better for her. She's a really nice young lady," Stoglin said of the baby's mom.

Henry remains in the McLennan County Jail on a capital murder charge. A judge Wednesday morning denied him bond.

Earlier this year a jury found Carnell Petetan, Jr., guilty of shooting and killing his estranged wife in the same Landing Apartments complex off Lake Shore Drive back in 2012.

In fact, police found her body in her apartment, in the same building as Henry's apartment.
