Belton ISD Employee Arrested After Failing To Report Child Abuse, Neglect or Sexual Assault

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- A Belton ISD employee was arrested after she failed to report child abuse, neglect or assault.

In March, an investigation showed that 49-year-old Belton ISD employee Dona Block was aware that a child who was attending Belton ISD may have been a victim of abuse, neglect or sexual assault.

Under the Texas Family Code, Block was required to report her knowledge of the abuse, neglect, or assault.

Investigators were then able to determine that she failed to report the abuse, neglect, or assault.

On Wednesday, Sheriff's investigators filed a Class A Misdemeanor case with Justice of the Peace David Barfield for Failure to Report Child Abuse or Neglect.

Judge Barfield issued a warrant for the arrest of Block.

On Thursday morning, Block surrendered at the Bell County Sheriff’s Department and was released after posting a $5,000.00 bond.

Earlier in the year, investigators received information of a sexual assault from the Belton Police Department.

After the case was forwarded to the Bell County Sheriff's Department in early March, investigators learned that a 25-year-old male of Belton had been involved in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old Belton ISD student.
