Bridge Repair Causes Lane Closures on I-35

Posted: Updated:
(KCEN) -- Southbound I-35 has been reduced to one lane over University Parks Dr. in Waco.

TxDOT closed the left and center lanes for repair work on Sunday night. The repairs should be complete by 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Traffic approaching the work area is being directed into the right-hand lane. Drivers are allowed to exit on the access-road bridge across the Brazos River.

Drivers needing to turn right to go downtown are able to do so.

Local drivers are encouraged to use other routes. Through traffic on the interstate is encouraged to use Loop 340 and reconnect with I-35 on the south side of Waco.

The section of University Parks Dr. under the bridge is closed also. Eastbound traffic on University Parks Dr. is being detoured south to 4th/5th St. and 2nd St.

The driveway exit at Baylor's Clifton Robinson Tower by the access road is closed during the repair. Employees and visitors are able to use the driveway opening to University Parks Drive.

Traffic signals at the intersection have been converted to flashing red and yellow lights.
