Waco Officer Saves Driver Before Truck Explodes

 (KCEN) -- An officer pulled a man from a fiery truck right before it exploded on Tuesday morning. 

On Tuesday morning, a Waco police officer was on his way to work when he saw two semi trucks collide on I-35 in Bruceville-Eddy. 

The officer jumped out of his car and ran toward the first truck as the driver was falling from the truck. The driver seemed to be disoriented. 

The officer then went to the second truck which was on fire. He approached the passenger side and saw the driver in a seat belt and unconscious. 

A man in a white Corvette pulled up to the scene and tried using a extinguisher on the fire, but it did not work.

That is when the officer jumped up to the burning truck, unbuckled the driver and dragged him to the truck moments before the truck exploded.

The officer said his actions were all "reactive."

The Waco Police Department says that they are proud  their officer who is a 10 year veteran. 

"His actions speak volumes for his character and the type of officer that he is," said Sergeant Patrick Swanton. 

The heroic officer asked for his name not to be released.
