Texas Today Team Does Ice Bucket Challenge

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- The Texas Today team accepted the Ice Bucket Challenge on Monday.

On Friday, KCEN anchor Nikki Laurenzo and Sports Director Pierre Noujaim accepted the challenge from ESPN Central Texas. Once they accepted, they then challenged the Texas Today crew.

The viral challenge, where people dump a bucket of ice water over their head, kicked off earlier this year, and is helping to raise awareness for ALS, known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Once completed, participants then challenge three others to either do the same or make a donation to the national ALS Association.

The Ice Bucket Challenge has had a big impact on ALS awareness in a very short time. Since late July, the ALS Association has raised $2.3 million.

Texas Today nominated Zack and Jim from Waco 100 and Dr. Ponder.
