TEMPLE, Texas — Nick Tarrant is a multi-platform producer at KCEN Channel 6. His duties include editing videos for Texas Today and producing digital content during the early weekday mornings.

Nick graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting and Journalism. As a Maverick, he juggled his role as the first podcast producer at the university’s student publication, The Shorthorn, while growing his multimedia skills as an intern at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Previously, he produced a weekly, educational TV show at Seacrest Studios in Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, which expanded on weather and earth science topics in a fun and engaging way.

In the early years of his college journalism career, he served as a multi-skilled journalist, reporting on the City of Arlington, university administration and campus student life.

Nick often finds inspiration for stories during ever-changing weather events in the Lone Star State. In the wake of Hurricane Harvey’s fury on South Texas, he told stories about recovery efforts, and how drivers were in a state of panic for a few days over a possible gas shortage.

Outside of his professional career, Nick enjoys photography, creating art, and spending time with his family.
