TEMPLE, Texas — Keeping Temple healthy is the mission statement behind Nutrition 2305 – a local, family operated health club – located at 4311 W Adams Ave Suite 105 in Temple.
Matt and Summer Stephens are the operators of Nutrition 2305, having taken over the operations of the club on the first of August this year.
“To get to today, it started out a long time ago with health and nutrition being less than it needs to be in America,” Matt Stephens said.
Nutrition 2305 takes being family operated to another level. While Matt and Summer are working, their two younger daughters of three girls are homeschooled in a converted room behind the storefront. When they’re not in class, they help out with the business.
“They’re able to get all of their studies done and learn those business skills that aren’t taught everywhere.” Matt Stephens said.
Matt and Summer have both taught classes before and are confident in their abilities to provide what their children need to be successful.
“Who better to learn from than your parents,” Matt continued.
The Stephens family care greatly about regaining control and knowledge about what goes into the food we put in our bodies. Together they also have a farm and put a large focus on soil health so that the proper nutrients start right from the source.
Matt considers himself an entrepreneur at heart, always having a side business of some sort. So, when Summer found the opportunity to step into Nutrition 2305 as an established business, they agreed to move forward.
“[The club] provided everything we believed in with health and nutrition,” Matt Stephens said. “A lot of the products that we use’ cornerstone is around the natural protein, natural vitamins and minerals that a lot of everyday Americans are lacking in their diets.”

With the desire to take the power back in terms of what you digest into your body, the Stephens’ made sure to allow every tea, shake, waffle or donut at the club to be tailored to fit every customer and their health-specific needs. Whether it is to rejuvenate your hair, skin and nails, improve circulation in your body or simply lose weight. They also have caffeine supplements that come with vitamins B and C, along with protein-based meal replacers.
Matt and Summer are proof that products at the club work, if it is paired with a healthy diet and consistency. Since working at the club, Matt lost 25 pounds and Summer lost three inches around her waist.
When discussing the choice of offering food and drink options, Summer Stephens says sometimes having a tea or shake and calling it a ‘meal’ can be unsatisfying. Similarly, looking for healthy meals and having to compromise on flavor or sweetness can be disappointing. Fortunately, the club has protein-based waffles and donuts on the menu.
“Pretty much any flavor that we have for any shake, we can turn into a donut or waffle,” she said.
6News tried several tasty treats like the Pumpkin Roll donuts which have the consistency and texture of a pancake, along with chocolate and pumpkin protein balls.

The chocolate protein balls feature a Dutch chocolate and cookies and cream protein mixture, peanut butter and date syrup. According to Summer, the date syrup is used to enhance the nutritious value of the snack and not spike blood sugar.
The pumpkin spice protein balls have pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds and date syrup along with sunflower butter.
The base menus are shared between the sister stores. Summer, who uses mixing flavors and testing new ideas as her creative outlet has developed new combinations to give more options. Similarly, decorating the space to look as if you’re entering a friend's home is on purpose. The open floor plan allows visitors to see the ‘kitchen’ or bar area from the ‘living room’ or wait/rest area that features a couch and rocking chair. While parents wait for their order, children can hang out in the ‘kids' area’ that features a shelving unit full of board games and activities.
“We have all aspects of family life here. That’s what we’re going for,” Matt Stephens said. “That is part of what drives us to show up every day and do what we do.”
Nutrition 2305 will be featured in two upcoming events happening locally. On October 19 they will be at the Fall Festival hosted by the Temple Civic Theatre. On October 22 they will be in Rogers. Guests to their booths will be able to taste test and buy assorted teas.
“I love being a part of the community. The interactions and energy is really important,” Summer Stephens said. “I think we miss some of that when we’re on our phones and texting. We’re not getting that community; we’re not getting that energy we need from person-to-person contact.”
“We’re pretty transparent as far as our personality goes,” Summer Stephens said. “If our story can help anybody then we’ll tell our story. That’s just who we are.”
