Hewitt girl gives daily forecast to bring joy to the community

Molly McCrady decided to use her science project to bring light to this tough situation.

HEWITT, Texas — Molly McCrady is a second-grader at Hewitt Elementary School. This week, one of her at-home assignments was to write down the weather forecast every day.

Molly's dad thought it would be fun to broadcast it every day, instead of just writing it down.

Of course, Molly loved the idea and knew her teacher would too.

"I am the only one doing this so I think it makes me stand out," Molly said.

She started her daily weather forecasting on Monday and has already become a pro, but sometimes gets down on herself when she forgets her lines.

"It takes way more tries than just one," Molly said. "On Thursday, I had a really hard time. It was stressful."

So, 6 news decided to bring in Zac Scott, Texas Today meteorologist, to give Molly some advice on what he does on a bad day.

"You have to just shake it off. I have more good days than bad days when I'm just having fun," Scott said.

6 News promised Molly, once everything with the coronavirus settles down, that she is welcomed to come to watch Zac do a forecast live!

In light of how crazy the world is, Molly's Mom Jen McCrady received word that her daughter has put a smile on many faces.

"They told me she brightens their day. With everything being so uncertain right now I think seeing an 8-year-old talk about weather brings joy to people," McCrady said.

When we asked Molly if shes going to continue to do this every day she said, "Ehh, maybe every two weeks. I really need some time to relax!!"

Safe to say she has a bright future in whatever she will do. But look out 6 News meteorologists, Molly is coming for your job!!
