HEWITT, Texas — Jessyka Galow, the owner of Gathering Board Co. in Hewitt began making charcuterie boards as a creative outlet just for family and friends months before the pandemic started.
"It was something I enjoyed doing. It wasn't something that I ever thought that this would be a business or something that I would be doing full-time," Galow said.
When COVID-19 hit, she started taking more orders and doing deliveries. Galow said it became something people enjoyed during quarantine and since, her small business has grown. Now, she has a storefront.
"I want people to come grab a board and go get together with your girlfriends or come grab a board and take your wife to the park and have a date night," Galow said.
At Gathering Board Co. you'll find grab-and-go snack boxes, drinks; you can pick up things to make your own board at home, including meats, cheeses, and jams you won't find locally.
"We're going to host classes so if you want to learn how to make your own board, we would be able to come in here and host them. There's just so much that we want to do and that we're excited to do," Galow said.
From her home kitchen to this new space, Galow said it will allow her to continue doing what she loves and that's bringing people together.
"I love hosting people just coming in and making them feel welcome and at home when they are in our space is something that we want with Gathering Board. For you to come in and feel the warmth and the love here," Galow said.
Gathering Board Co. will have a grand opening event Saturday, Aug. 7 at the storefront inside the Hewitt Mall. They'll have grab and go snack, brunch and a mimosa bar.
