Tim Hortons seeking franchisees in the Austin area

The Canadian company hopes to open 40 to 50 stores in the Austin area, a new report revealed.

AUSTIN, Texas — A Canadian coffee chain could be coming to Central Texas.

The Austin Business Journal reports that Tim Hortons could open more than 40 stores in the Austin area within the next five years.

The chain started in Canada, and most of its U.S. stores are in Michigan and New York. But it does have two stores in Texas, both in the Houston area.

Tim Hortons is known for its coffee and “Timbits” doughnut holes.

The company has already begun talks with Austin-based restaurant groups, a source told the ABJ. An agreement could be finalized within the next two months.

Tim Hortons is focusing its U.S. expansion on Texas, Florida and Georgia markets as population growth booms in the three states.
