SAN ANTONIO — Someone in San Antonio hoping to become a millionaire in 2021 had their dream come true – three times over.
A San Antonio resident bought a top prize-winning ticket worth $3 million in the Texas Lottery scratch-off game called "$750 Million Winner’s Circle."
The ticket was purchased at Pappa Zipps (a convenience store at a CITGO gas station), located at 2101 South Hackberry Street, in San Antonio – near the intersection of I-10 and I-37 on the city's southeast side. The lucky winner decided to remain anonymous.
Lottery officials said it was the seventh of 12 top prizes worth $3 million to be claimed in this particular game. $750 Million Winner’s Circle offers more than $750 million in total prizes. Overall odds of winning any prize in the game are one in 2.88, including break-even prizes.
Another Texan also struck a big financial win on Wednesday – winning the Powerball drawing.
Powerball and Mega Millions both kicked off 2021 with some big paydays up for grabs.
For only the third time in history, the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots have topped $400 million at the same time.
The Powerball jackpot for the drawing on Wednesday, Jan. 6, climbed to an estimated $410 million. Meanwhile, no winner was announced after the Mega Millions jackpot for the Tuesday, Jan. 5 drawing. That jackpot has raised to an estimated $490 million.
The last time both lottery games had jackpots above $400 million simultaneously was back in Oct. 2018. The milestone occurred right before someone won a record Mega Millions jackpot prize of $1.537 billion.
The odds of winning the Powerball grand prize is 1-in-292,201,338.
