Four charged with capital murder over shooting near Crestview Station

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police have arrested four people after a man was shot and killed in an overnight shooting in North Austin on Sunday, Feb. 28. 

The Austin Police Department (APD) said Marcel Tramon Pimpton, 27, was shot at an apartment complex in the 800 block of W. St. Johns Avenue. The APD said Austin 911 received a report of shots fired at the apartment complex at approximately 11:36 p.m. 

The APD said when officers arrived at the scene, they found a blood trail that led them back to Pimpton and immediately began performing CPR on him.

Police said Pimpton died at the scene shortly thereafter. An autopsy will be done by the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office to determine the cause and manner of death.

On Thursday, April 22, police said four people suspects have been charged with capital murder and have bonds of $800,000 each. They are Michael Wayne Butler, 27, Kieren Eric Dewayne McGowan, 22, Sammie Ray Spencer, 24, and Tarell Deshawn Manson, 24.

The APD does not know the motive for the shooting.
