BURLESON COUNTY, Texas — UPDATE: Thursday, May 12, 2022
The Burleson County Sheriff's Office has released new details into the manhunt for Todd Wangler, 47, of Florida. Authorities had been searching for him Wednesday evening and into the overnight hours. Wangler was arrested just before 10 a.m. Thursday in Burleson County.
Authorities with the Burleson County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers said they got information Wangler, who is wanted out of St. Lucie, Florida, was in Burleson County. Wangler was wanted for four charges of domestic violence, including for false imprisonment, strangulation and sexual battery.
Authorities said they started their search for Wangler around 6 p.m. Wednesday in the 9400 block of County Road 333. Texas DPS used its helicopter and search dogs were on the hunt from the TDCJ for Wangler. Authorities also let people living within five miles of the last known sighting know to stay inside as they considered Wangler to be armed and dangerous. They believed Wangler had learned authorities were looking for him and he was trying to leave the area.
Authorities also received information from people in the area they had seen Wangler walking and reported their last known sightings. Just before 4 a.m., authorities decided to suspend the search until daylight. Around 8:30 a.m., authorities received a tip that Wangler was spotted walking in a pasture in the 600 block of County Road 308. Authorities then spotted him going into a wooded area and were able to catch up with him just before 10 a.m. and he was arrested.
Authorities said they found a handgun along the railroad tracks near County Road 308 and believe Wangler may have been carrying the weapon but tried to get rid of it. The investigation into why Wangler was in Burleson County is ongoing.
Several agencies helped in the search for Wangler, including the Texas Rangers, Texas DPS, Caldwell Police Department, Texas Department of Corrections, Bryan Fire Marshals and the Milam County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said they also want to thank their citizens for helping.

The Burleson County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man they said should be considered dangerous in the county.
Todd Wangler, 47, is wanted on charges that are from another state. His specific charges have not yet been released by the Burleson County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said Wangler was last seen near the Burleson County and Milam County lines Wednesday night. Authorities said they searched for him off of FM 308 before 10 p.m. and had previously looked for him in the area of 9470 County Road 333.
Authorities said they believed Wangler may be traveling without any mode of transportation and may be carrying a gun.
They said people should considered Wangler to be dangerous and that he has a violent criminal history. If you see Wangler, authorities are asking you not approach him. Instead, call police or the Burleson County Sheriff's Office at 979-567-4343.
