Ronald Gasser, the suspect in the shooting death of Joe McKnight has been released, according to Jefferson Parish spokesman Colonel John Fortunato.
Gasser has not been charged as of this time, though the matter remains under investigation.
"Ronald Gasser was released overnight and he has not been charged in the shooting of Joe McKnight. We’re making an appeal to anyone who may have been near that intersection and witnessed what went on between these two people to please call our Detective Bureau at 504-364-5300," Fortunato said.
McKnight was shot and killed after some type of traffic confrontation with Gasser. Fortunato said Gasser admitted to shooting McKnight and gave an explanation to investigators, though Fortunato would not elaborate.
