Two men arrested in Arkansas indicted on capital murder charges in Waco shooting

Justice Allen Stanford and Casey Wade Hughes were both indicted today after being arrested in April 2019 in connection to the fatal shooting of Jerome Scott in Waco.

WACO, Texas — Two men who were arrested in Arkansas in connection to a fatal shooting that happened in Waco last April were indicted today on capital murder charges by a grand jury in McLennan County.

Justice Allen Stanford and Casey Wade Hughes were each indicted in connection to the shooting death of Jerome Scott in April 2019. 

Police in Arkansas arrested the two men in mid-April 2019 in connection to the crime in Waco.

Waco Police Officer Garen Bynum said Hughes, 21, and Stanford, 25, were arrested in Clinton, north of Little Rock. The two were extradited back to Waco after they were arrested. 

Waco police found Preston Scott, 29, shot in the back at the intersection of Dallas St. and Carver Ave. on April 1, 2019.
