MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas — Charles Sedigas was indicted for murder Wednesday in connection to the brutal 1984 killing of his 56-year-old grandmother, Vera Burleson.

Serdigas was arrested last December in Hubbard, Texas, after a 16-month investigation by a cold case unit, according to a press release from the McLennan County Sheriff's Office.

Burleson was found dead in her Bellmead home in June 1984 with multiple injuries from stab wounds and blunt force trauma, the release said.

"Investigators have located and taken statements from key witnesses that show Charles Sedigas killed Vera Burleson," Sheriff Parnell McNamara said after the arrest. "We are very proud of our Cold Case Unit and their dedication to solving these brutal murders."
