List: What Temple parks, museums, pools will open and what's staying closed

The city of Temple will open a number of different recreation areas and pools in the coming weeks.

TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple Parks & Recreation Department released a list Friday of what will be opening over the next couple of weeks.

The department said most facilities programs and events were suspended to help limit the spread of COVID-19. Here's what's going to open and what will remain closed.

Sammons Indoor Pool will open on May 26. The city said it will release the hours and safety policies later.

Summit Recreation Center will open on June 1.

The Railroad & Heritage Museum will open on June 2. Please visit templerrhm.org for additional details.

All city owned pools, which includes Walker Pool, Clark Pool and the Summit Outdoor Pool will open on June 8.

Summer camps will open on June 15th. Camps will have limited availability to ensure health and safety of all. For more details on camps, please call 254-298-5690 or visit templetx.gov/summercamps.

Wilson Recreation Center, Gober Party House and Blackmon Community Center are closed for recreational programming but are expected to be used for summer programs.

The following facilities and parks will remain closed until further notice.

City athletic programs, park playgrounds, park restrooms, park pavilions, the skate park at Miller Park, splash pads and Sammons Community Center.

Lions Junction Family Water Park will remain closed throughout the summer.

The city said all facilities and programs will serve at a reduced occupancy level based on the ability to meet social distancing guidelines.
