McDonald's gives back to those in need

A local McDonald's delivered food to the Temple Ronald McDonald House.

TEMPLE, Texas — With the shelter in place orders, not many people are leaving their homes to pick up food, especially those at a high risk of getting the coronavirus. So, a local McDonald's decided to bring food directly to those who cannot leave home.

Many families travel far and spend several weeks or months to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children. Ronald McDonald House provides a place for families to call home so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little to no cost.

There is an RMHC in Temple that is currently housing six families. The McDonald's off of South General Bruce decided to safely package up different food options and deliver them to the RMH.

Jossian Espada is the supervisor at that McDonald s location and said this will not be the last time.

"We love doing what we can to support the community. Our owner and owners at other locations are passionate about the community so I don't think this will be a one-time thing," Espada said.

The volunteers who assisted Espada with delivering the food wore gloves and placed the food items in a wagon for an RMHC staff member to come out and get.
