Nine months after Deonshira Slider was gunned down in front of her son, the Hillsboro Department of Public Safety said it made an arrest related to its murder investigation.

Barr-Lazcano was arraigned on murder and endangering a child by Judge J. Milburn, the press release said.

His bond was set at $1 million, according to the press release.

The 41-year-old is being held in protective custody at the Hill County Jail, the press release said.

The Hillsboro Police Department said it is still investigating the death.

Anyone with information should contact detective Sgt. J. Orozco of the Hillsboro DPS Criminal Investigation Unit at 254-582-8406.

Correction: An earlier version of this story said Slider was murdered in front of her son. Although police are investigating her death as a murder, that can't be determined until pre-meditated, malicious intent is proven in court.
