BELTON, Texas — The city of Belton announced Monday afternoon a boil water advisory for the area east of I-35, between Nolan Creek and the Leon River. A broken 8-inch water line located in the 200 block of N I-35 frontage road caused a temporary disruption in water service to the area, Public Information Officer for Belton Paul Romer said.

The city says to bring water to a "vigorous, rolling boil" for two minutes prior to using it for drinking, cooking and making ice. Bottled water is an alternative to boiling water, Romer said.

The city says it will send out an update on its website when water is safe for consumption again.
