A Jeep hit a child crossing the road on the 800 block of Rancier Avenue in Killeen on Friday at around 1:40 p.m.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 5 year-old girl lying in the roadway. She was immediately flown to Baylor Scott & White in Temple. Her condition is now critical but stable, according to Killeen spokesperson Ofelia Miramontez.
Miramontez said two people were in the Jeep and the driver stopped right away.
No other injuries were reported.
