Council members ended a two-year battle over the controversial Grove development after they approved a deal between developers and neighbors Thursday night.

Neighbors have fought the development from the outset. They are concerned over issues such as population density, traffic and invasive construction. But after reaching an agreement with developers, neighbors will now get their way on several key points.

The Grove at Shoal Creek will be developed on 75-acres of land near 45th Street and Bull Creek Road.

The developer, ARG Bull Creek, Ltd., agreed not to extend Jackson Avenue to 45th Street, which would have demolished two homes. The Grove is 87 percent residential, but ARG also agreed to increase affordable units by 25 percent, while trimming office and retail space by 25,000 feet.

ARG also agreed to $1.3 million for traffic mitigation and safety enhancements such as sidewalks and traffic circles.
